I have had my hair locked since 2000. After a major cut in 2006, I’ve been growing it out. Lately, I’ve felt like my hair did'nt quite fit my style (it had length, no shape, and hence ended up in a ponytail on most days).
This past weekend I turned to the fabulous Erica at Natural Uhuru for a change. She gave me a layered cut and then a curl (using some perm rods). I am really happy with the result.
Of course, I did not take a before picture. So, I had to improvise…

I love the cut. I understand what you mean about your hair not matching your style. I find myself in that rut as a grad student. I recently got microbraids for the summer because I figured I could at least have some sort of style on the go instead of an updo EVERYday.
but back to you this looks great. How easy are the curls to maintain?

The curls are very easy to maintain. If I set my hair when it is wet, they hold until I wash it again. The curls start out really tight and become a loose curl overtime.

NICE!! I'm really loving the curls. I really need a change for spring as well but unfortunately my choices are limited. That being said, I guess it's time to up the accessories! :O) I request more pictures to show the progression as the curl loosens, pretty please!
